THE EPP GROUP IN THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT

is seeking to recruit an Administrator advising on parliamentary business of Portuguese language

The Group of the European People's Party (EPP Group) is the largest political group in the European Parliament. Its multinational secretariat provides political, administrative and technical support to its 216 MEPs.

It is the responsibility of the Internet and New Media sector within the Press & Communications Service to ensure the EPP Group and its MEPs are well-represented online. This includes putting in place and maintaining the relevant infrastructure, daily online communication and running communication campaigns.

Employment may be for any period between 1 year and up to 6 years maximum. Basic salary ranges from 3.3500 € to 6.200 € depending on the length of previous professional experience. Benefits apply.

Job qualifications

The administrator fulfils a supranational function within the EPP Parliamentary Group Secretariat, and assists all EPP Members of the European Parliament in carrying out their duties.

The main tasks of the administrator are:

o Participating in and following up of the legislative work of parliamentary committees;
o Assisting the Members in their functions and duties by providing opinions and advice when necessary;
o Drafting amendments, briefings, voting lists, minutes, summaries, analysis, notes, etc. on subjects relating to the fields of competence;
o Ensuring a good contact and communication with other political groups and other EU institutions;
o Organizing and following up of meetings;
o Contributing in communication activity necessary for the smooth running of the Group. These duties require a    good knowledge of the European Union, its institutions and policies, and of the political systems within the            European Union’s Member States.

The post of administrator in the Secretariat of the EPP Group requires great availability (high frequency of meetings, irregular working hours), flexibility, judgement, a methodical approach, discretion, adaptability to varying workloads, as well as the capacity for teamwork in an international environment. Suitable candidates must, amongst other things, be capable of grasping wide-ranging problems and of responding rapidly to changing circumstances. Excellent oral and written communication and computer skills are also necessary for the proper performance of the above-mentioned duties.

Frequent travel outside the place of work is required, in particular several days per month in Strasbourg during the plenary session.

Job requirements Candidates must have:

o a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of at least three years attested by a          diploma;
o at least two years’ university-level relevant professional experience similar to the duties as described in the job    description;
o a thorough knowledge of the Portuguese language;
o a very good knowledge of English;
o a knowledge of other EU languages is an asset;
o working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
