JobsinBrussels is the first website of its kind in Belgium focusing on job opportunities with English as the main working language together, and with special collaborative features. Contrary to what the name might suggest, we also cover some jobs outside Brussels. However, Brussels stays the heart of the Belgian expatriate community.

JobsinBrussels is part of the JobsinHubs.com family which started its activities with a very successful launch of JobsinCopenhagen in spring 2006, quickly becoming number one in the Danish market after only four months. JobinAmsterdam is aiming for the same success wanting to become Belgian’s number one job portal for expatriates and others with English as the main working language. The JobsinHubs network is growing quickly and new cities will be added soon.

Why did we start JobsinBrussels?

There are two main trends which have convinced us that there was a need for yet another job portal. Firstly, with more and more companies switching to English as their main working language, a growing number of international jobs exist in Brussels. Secondly there is a significant change in the user behaviour of people looking for jobs on the Internet.

People change jobs much faster and are ready to move internationally on short notice if the right opportunity is presented.

The biggest difference is however, that job seekers increasingly use the Internet in smart and new ways to find and evaluate their future employer before even applying. In this respect the job ad as such becomes one, but not the only reference for a job seeker. In the spirit of the new Internet, or web 2.0, users exchange information among each other, search for company blogs, forums or newsgroups or connect on business communities like LinkedIn or ObenBC to meet people already working for this company.

Other big job portals only slowly seem to realize this change in user behaviour. Opting for quantity rather than quality they no longer seem to live up to what the user demands today. The key question is whether they can actually deliver the high quality job candidates that they promise to companies.

From a company's point of view, we have introduced an innovative pay-per-performance model. Indeed, recruiters pay only for the clicks they get (when a job seeker reads their listing) and they can setup a maximum number of clicks to control their budget. This makes JobsinBrussels very competitive and much more aligned to business results in terms of pricing.
